Buitenkans is the chance of a lifetime for:
- Young and/or new artists performing in public places.
- Established street artists that have not performed in The Netherlands.
- Programmers, agents, festival organizers and anyone interested in discovering new street theater acts for their own events.
- The people of Enschede.
 Everyone is invited to come to Enschede on Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18 to experience the unique chance called Buitenkans.
Buitenkans is the place to show your talents to an enthusiastic audience, programmers, colleagues, clients, and a professional jury.
Buitenkans is a talent show, a meeting place and a Street Theater Festival all in one.
During the past 4 years, Buitenkans has grown to an extremely popular and successful event in Nijverdal. In fact, Buitenkans has outgrown this location, so for 2008 the festival is moving to Enschede. In a larger city there will be even more performance possibilities and definitely more people to watch.
Buitenkans is a talent show. All the artists that participate in the competition are eligible to win paid performances in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. In addition there is an audience choice award of € 500!
All acts will be judged by a professional jury with years of experience in Street Theater. After the festival, participating artists will receive a report from the jury with useful tips and comments to help in the future.
Buitenkans is going to put a lot of energy into attracting many people involved in Street Theater for their profession to Enschede. Besides all the young talent, a select group of professional artists will be invited. These will be groups that have established a reputation on the international scene, even though they have not performed in Holland or Belgium yet. Acts to enjoy, and learn from.
Buitenkans is a meeting place. There will be adequate space where everyone can meet and exchange ideas and tips. Festival organizers can collect information about various acts, artists can meet other artists, and everyone can benefit from each others knowledge and experience.
Buitenkans will publish a CD with the names and address of all participating acts. In addition, advertising will be made in the local newspapers and a folder with acts names, photo's and contact details will be distributed.
Buitenkans is a complete festival. The people of Enschede as well as Street Theater fans will come in contact with all aspects of Street Theater.
